If you’ve had a Fox ESS battery system installed, the Fox Cloud 2 app is how you keep an eye on it. Here’s a quick walkthrough — Matthew also runs through it in the video below.
Step 1: Download and log in
Search for Fox Cloud 2 in the App Store or Google Play. Install it, create an account, and log in. Your installer should have given you the device credentials you need to pair the app with your system.
Step 2: The dashboard
The main screen shows you what’s happening right now: how much your panels are generating, your battery’s current charge level, how much electricity your home is using, and whether you’re importing from or exporting to the grid. It’s a useful snapshot for understanding what your system is doing at any given moment.
Step 3: Historical data
Swipe right to get into generation and battery graphs broken down by day, week, or month. This is where you start to spot patterns — how much your system generates on a sunny day vs. a cloudy one, how your battery charges and discharges through the day, and so on.
Step 4: Settings and scheduling
The quick settings menu lets you schedule your battery to charge from the grid at off-peak times. If you’re on a time-of-use tariff like Octopus Go, this is how you take advantage of cheaper overnight electricity — charge the battery overnight, use it during the day instead of drawing from the grid at peak rates.
The reports section also lets you download performance logs, which can be useful to share with us if you ever want to review how your system is performing.
