Public access defibrillators (AEDs) are increasingly common in community buildings, churches and public spaces — and for good reason. Time is critical in a cardiac emergency, and having an accessible AED close by can make a real difference to outcomes.
Most modern AED cabinets are heated to keep the unit at a stable operating temperature, which means they require a permanent electrical supply — not something that can simply be plugged into an extension lead.
What the Installation Involved
We installed a dedicated electrical supply to the external defibrillator location, ensuring the unit is properly connected and maintained at the correct operating temperature at all times.
- Dedicated circuit installed from the consumer unit
- Weatherproof external connection for the AED cabinet
- Neat cable route with no exposed runs
- Full testing and electrical certification on completion
The installation was completed with minimal disruption to the church building and signed off on the same day.
Getting the Electrics Right
A defibrillator cabinet needs to be reliably powered — there’s no room for an intermittent or poorly installed connection. Using a properly rated dedicated circuit, correct weatherproof fittings and a certified installation ensures the unit stays ready for use whenever it’s needed.
