The Fox ESS system manages the flow of energy between the solar panels, the battery, the home and the grid — prioritising self-consumption and ensuring the battery is charged during the day for use in the evening.

How Solar and Battery Storage Work Together
Solar panels generate electricity during daylight hours, but generation peaks around midday when household demand is often lower. Without a battery, surplus energy gets exported to the grid — usually at a much lower rate than the electricity you buy back in the evening.
Adding battery storage changes this. Instead of exporting surplus generation, the battery stores it for use later in the day. In summer months, a well-sized system can cover most of a household’s evening energy needs from solar generation alone. In winter, the battery still helps by storing off-peak grid electricity overnight when rates are lowest.
