Sigenergy is one of the newer battery brands we’ve started installing. Their battery system is worth looking at separately from their EV charger product — it’s a different piece of kit with a different use case.

What the Sigenergy battery system is
Sigenergy’s residential storage system is a modular lithium-ion battery that pairs with their hybrid inverter to manage solar generation, grid import and export, and battery charging in one unit. The modular design means you can start with a smaller capacity and add modules later if your usage changes — useful if you’re not sure how much storage you actually need upfront.
The system stores surplus solar energy during the day and makes it available in the evening when generation drops off. For most households, this shifts a meaningful portion of consumption away from grid electricity. Paired with an off-peak tariff, the payback period can work out reasonably well.
Performance
The figures are competitive: round-trip efficiency around 95%, high depth of discharge, and sufficient power output for running multiple household appliances. Performance does drop in very cold conditions — as with any lithium-ion battery — so installation location matters. We always discuss this during the survey stage.
The monitoring app lets you track generation, battery state, and grid usage in real time. The system can be configured to prioritise solar charging, off-peak grid charging, or a blend of both depending on your setup and tariff.
Is it the right fit?
Sigenergy is a strong option for homes with solar panels looking to reduce their grid dependence. The brand is newer to the UK market than some alternatives, which is worth factoring in when thinking about long-term support — though our experience with their technical team has been good so far.
Whether it’s right for your home depends on your existing setup, how much storage you want, and your usage patterns. For existing solar owners, we can advise on whether a Sigenergy retrofit makes sense. For new installations, it’s worth comparing alongside FoxESS and GivEnergy. Get in touch for a quote.
